Check out this guy's website: His training plan is specific to the 10k, but that's not what is important. What is important is the theory that he talks about when developing the plan. He presents training as a series of phases, each one gradually conditioning your body in a certain way. Read through the plan to get an idea of the theory, and use it to help you formulate a program that is specific to you. If I were you, I'd spend the 6 weeks you have building your aerobic base. That means mostly runs of 3-4 miles, at a nice easy pace, 4 or 5 days a week. Take one day each week to do a more intense workout.
