Will Flo-Jo's athletics world records ever be beaten?
Q. 100m 10.49 in 1988 The only one close was Marion Jones 10.65 Even that's a big difference. 200m 21.34 1988 Next again Jones 21.62.
Asked by backpacka - Sun May 14 20:19:30 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. In time, sure... but I believe the 100m record will stand for decades until anyone gets close. The 200m time is more likely to be challenged. I hate to say it, but I believe Flo-Jo was juiced, but these weren't so far into the atmosphere that they can't be surpassed...in may be 20 or 30 years, but they will be.

A. If you mean field athletics as well, technically you could say the Discus record is is longer at the moment for a woman. The women use a lighter one than the men. If you mean running events only, possibly the Marathon but I am not certain.

China's air pollution to keep marathon world record-holder out of Olympics. Is it that bad?
Q. Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie pulls out of Beijing marathon because of pollution. The marathon world record-holder said yesterday that he was unlikely to compete at the Beijing Olympics because China s air pollution would damage his health. Is the air that polluted to breathe for anyone, ie, how filthy is the air?

A. I worked on a ship in Taiwan for a few hours a couple times. The air was so bad there that we couldn't see more than 300 or so feet. After a short time your lungs began to burn and eyes water. I wore a resperator and airtight goggles and still was uncomfortable and I was only standing gangway watch. I can't imagine what mainland china must be like. Maybe china is getting ahead of us by building all the cheap toys, food, computers... but I'd rather not die too many years before my time should be up.

is there a list of occupations/qualification s that grant the bearer entry into the USA with mind to work?
Q. I'm hoping to move to the USA in 2011, but other than becoming a full-time student, finding a GBP1000,000 to invest or breaking a world athletics record, I don't see a way in. Is there a visa category that I'm missing? Ideally there is a list of occupations or qualifications that the USA deem as attractive to the growth of her economy and the development of her people.

A. Pick a visa There are basically NINE ways that you can get a visa to live and work in the US: (1) Marriage (or engagement in anticipation of marriage) to a US citizen. (2) You have skills that are in short supply in the US e.g. scientific or medical training. A degree is normally a must. Or you have superior specialist skills with at least 12 years experience. (H visas) (3) You have an Employer who is willing to transfer you - but even the employer has to make a good case for you - so you have to be a manager unless you fall under category (2) above.(L visas) (4) You may get a Green card in the diversity lottery (UK citizens, except N.Ireland, are not generally eligible unless you, your spouse or parents were born abroad or held a… [cont.]

Why are women not allowed to serve in the frontline in the Army?
Q. Could it be that they would get emotional and would faint from seeing dead and injured bodies on the battlefield? Or is it that they do not have the athletic abilities that men possess naturally. This can be evident in the world record differences in Athletics between Male and Females. What do you think or know? Technically, men can get raped too. Correct? The reason for the less amount of deaths of Military women is because they are not at the frontline. Unlike the men which serve the frontline normally.

A. A fair question. You actually list two very good reasons. While history has shown that women can be quite vicious in certain circumstances, the question is, do they make good soldiers? I have no problem with women serving in the armed forces. They can do jobs that free up men to fight. I can tell you as a former Marine infantryman, that being a soldier requires some testosterone and upper-body strength. Sadly, women were not designed by God with these things in mind, (despite what you've seen in movies like "Aliens" or "G.I. Jane") Most women have a difficult time doing the things that soldiers need to be able to do. Two other reasons are tradition; we want to protect our women as a matter of virtue, and the fact that women tend to… [cont.]

What's the difference between soccer and athletics?
Q. from the cheating point of view. If an athlete takes drugs to enhance his performance, such as Canadian Ben Johnson and others, their Olympic medals and records were discarded and their careers ended. By contrast the French footballer Thiery Henry, who deliberately handled the ball twice and by such cheating Ireland stand disbarred from the World Cup, he is a national hero and his deliberate cheating ignored by the footballing authorities. So, why one rule for soccer and another for all other sports. Why shouldn't all sportmen take drugs and cheat then ? I don't want to hear anyone say ' get over it' again. OK

A. the IOC has different rules they are a separate governing agency who go about enforcing their rules how it is prescribed in their rule book, FIFA is a separate rules and go about enforcing their rules how it is prescribed in their rule book. As it stand OIC has rules with bans and revoking medals if drug testing proves positive. As it stand FIFA and the IFAB rules state that decisions of the referee on the field are final, there are provisions for things that the referees completely miss but as FIFA rules states the referee judged that to be a goal so that is how it stands.

2009 WS: Citizens Bank and possibly New Yankee. Are we heading for a new Series home run record?
Q. Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park is very homer-friendly, and New Yankee Stadium has hardly been suppressing the long ball either. And consider the hitters -- Werth, Howard, Teixeira (if he wakes up), and Rodriguez has been on fire. (And the not-yet-eliminated Angels have some good sluggers as well.) Is a new total home run record for one World Series upon us? Current World Series marks: 4 game Series: 13 (1989, Athletics-Giants). 5 game Series: 15 (1970, Athletics-Reds). 6 game Series: 17 (1953, Yankees-Dodgers, & 1977, Yankees-Dodgers). 7 game Series: 21 (2002, Angels-Giants). Why are Black American athletes so much better than their African counterparts?
Q. I am referring to athletics, and specically the more explosive events like sprints. Diet? Genes? Let's say there are 50 million black Americans. But there are 100s of millions of Africans. As far as I know, no Black African has ever held the World or Olympic record for the 100/200 or 400m sprints. Does this special talent go back to the time of slavery, where only the strongest were allowed to 'breed'? (Please don t take offence at this word, but I can t think of another. 'Pro-create' just doesn't sound right.) Answerer-er. Millions of diferences? Sorry, I didn't notice that the Afro-American has an extra leg, and four arms. Why Russian women are better in sports than American,s.?
Q. America has about 3 times higher GDP per capita (PPP) and twice as much population and create lot more hype about their players and they are actually much better than Russia in most men,s categories generally but Russian women seem much better at sports than the American ones. For example they have 24 world records in women indoor and outdoor athletics(incl. former soviet union) but America has only 4. Why is it so?maybe they are genetically more athletic and have better endurance level because of very cold weather there?
Asked by hateit10 - Sun Feb 15 13:49:40 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I don't know.. But Russians are almost always leading in sports, since the Soviet Union. Just look at the results of any Olympic game! Maybe they're just not lazy and they practice a lot more, I don't know. But I do know for sure that sport, ballet, music, and the arts were very valued during the Soviet times. It was very important for children to be involved in extracurricular activities. So maybe it's just because people still have the Soviet mentality and want to show their patriotism. Hope this helped! :)

If someone only manage to raise their fitness level to a level of a professional athlete days after the annual?
Q. athletics meeting (London grand prix) but before the iaaf world championships 2009, would it be possible to book someone to a plane to berlin for this year's iaaf world championships in athletics before it happens like if you've only broken world records for 100m, 200m, 400m like 2 days after the london grand prix? Sorry there was no more space at the top. Is possible for that to actually happen because I don't think I'll break the world record until 2 days after the 25th of July and I'm 15 years, 4 months and 13 days.

A. You won't break any world records. That's impossible. No 15 year old has ever broken a world record...EVER. And if you were capable of doing it right now, you would be known by every track expert that searches for talent. And you would have won national championships for high school competition.

Do You Think Caster Semenya is Male or Female?
Q. In my opinion she looks extremely masculine, to the point where she doesn't have many feminine features. In a way she looks like a female, but she also looks like and also runs like a male. Her time was not the standard of a male, it was quick but not that fast, not a world record either, so she could just be very quick..

Why are people especially south africans so shocked over the gender testing when it happened before?
Q. I mean there is very good reason to suspect she is a man. Its even been shown that its possible for someone to be physically male but be born with female genitalia. And many of the world record breakers in the past turned out to be a male in some way. here read: And I am not being jealous like many people accuse people who think she is a man. I don't care for female athletics and I don't even know what she competed in. . . .like a mini olympics or somethin?

A. It's understandable for her country to be upset, but many of them are probably afraid of scandal. Anyone who competes on a world level accepts having to prove something as basic as are you a man or a woman.
